Recto — Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 6, 2026
Recto ("the App", "we", "us") is a rectangle-division puzzle game developed by an independent developer. This policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. Recto is available for Android and iOS.
Information we collect
Account information (Android only, optional). If you choose to sign in — via Google Play Games or a Google account — to sync your progress across devices, we receive a unique account ID, your display name, and (for Google Sign-In) your email address, as provided by Google. You are never required to sign in to play; without signing in, no account data is collected and your progress stays on your device only. Recto has no sign-in on iOS — progress there always stays on the device.
Gameplay data. If you are signed in, your game progress (completed levels, scores, settings such as sound and language) is stored in our database (Google Firestore) linked to your account ID, so it can sync across your devices. If you are not signed in, this data is stored locally on your device only and is never sent to us.
Advertising data. Recto shows optional rewarded ads (e.g., "watch an ad for a hint") through Google AdMob. AdMob may collect your device's advertising identifier and other technical data to serve and measure ads, and may use this data for personalized advertising unless you opt out in your device settings. We do not control this data collection directly — see Google's Ads & Data policy and Google Privacy Policy for details.
Locally stored data. Your settings (sound, haptics, language, timer visibility, etc.) are stored on your device using standard local storage and are not transmitted anywhere unless you are signed in, as described above.
We do not collect your location, contacts, camera, microphone, or any financial information.
How we use information
- To save and sync your game progress across your devices
- To let you sign in and identify your saved game
- To show and measure optional rewarded ads
- To diagnose crashes and improve the App
Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers that operate the App on our behalf: Google Firebase (authentication and cloud save) and Google AdMob (ads), each bound by their own privacy terms.
Data retention and deletion
If you signed in, your account and saved progress are kept until you delete them. You can permanently delete your account and cloud save at any time, directly in the App: Settings → Account → Delete account. This immediately and permanently erases your account and your cloud-saved progress from our servers; it does not delete the progress kept on your device, since deleting your account should not also cost you the level you were halfway through. If you would rather not use the in-app option, or no longer have access to the App, email us at the address below with the account you signed in with and we will delete it within 30 days. Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data immediately, but — for a signed-in account — does not by itself delete the copy already synced to our servers; use one of the deletion options above for that.
Children's privacy
Recto is a general-audience puzzle game and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your choices
- Play without signing in to avoid any account data collection
- Sign out or disconnect your account at any time in Settings
- Limit ad personalization in your device's ad settings
- Permanently delete your account and cloud data at any time, in-app under Settings → Account → Delete account
